{"id":265766,"date":"2026-08-15T06:20:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T06:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/265766\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T06:20:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T06:20:19","slug":"7-vehicle-crash-shuts-down-i-70-westbound-in-washington-county-3-hospitalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/265766\/","title":{"rendered":"7-vehicle crash shuts down I-70 westbound in Washington County; 3 hospitalized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">CANTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. \u2014 A seven-vehicle crash shut down Interstate 70 westbound in Washington County on Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The crash happened just before 2 p.m. near mile marker 15 in Canton Township, according to a release from Pennsylvania State Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A tow truck was driving in the middle lane of I-70 eastbound while a car was merging onto the highway from Exit 15.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The car didn\u2019t properly check if it was safe to merge and hit the tow truck, PSP says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The car ended up on the left side of I-70 eastbound, but the tow truck went through the guardrail and into I-70 westbound. It was then hit by another car and went down into a ditch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A chain reaction was set off, ultimately involving seven total vehicles, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The tow truck driver and the third car\u2019s driver were taken to area hospitals with suspected serious injuries, PSP says.
