Musical performance: Forest City Area Historical Society musical performance of Paul Hayward, Aug. 22, 6 p.m. Hayward is a world-traveling singer\/songwriter and a native of Forest City. He currently lives in San Francisco, where he is a restaurateur. He has built several successful restaurants and bars. He also holds a master\u2019s degree in theology. While at the concert, view the many historical items and history of the Forest City region. The Forest City Area Historical Society Museum is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. There is no admission for the concert but donations are welcome.<\/p>\n

Bus trip: AARP NEPA\/Scranton Chapter 3731 will host a bus trip to Wind Creek Casino, Bethlehem, on Oct. 14. The casino houses over 3,000 slot machines and 150 table games. Shop the outlets and eat at the food court or the many restaurants on site. Rebate: $25 free slot play. Board at the former Kmart on Business Route 6, Dickson City, at 9 a.m., and depart the casino at 4:30 p.m. Payment of $40 due with reservation. Trip is open to the public. Youth abstract photography: Abstract Photography: Seeing Beyond the Ordinary, Aug. 22, 11 a.m., Valley Community Library, 739 River St., Peckville. Kids and teens ages 10-17 will explore photography as a form of artistic expression in this hands-on introduction to abstract photography. Through creative experiments with light, color, texture, perspective and composition, participants will discover how everyday objects can become extraordinary works of art. No photography experience is necessary. Cameras or smartphones are welcome to be used by participants. Registration is required at LCLSHOME.org\/Valley.<\/p>\n

Annual benefit concert: The singers of Voce Angeli free concert, Sunday, 3 p.m., St Luke\u2019s Episcopal Church in Scranton. This will be their special 10th anniversary concert featuring both new songs and songs from the last 10 years. Admission is free, but goodwill donations are being collected for this year\u2019s charity, Scranton Girls Rock, a nonprofit that provides musical opportunities for teenage girls in Scranton. A reception and silent basket auction will be held after the show.
