A Bethlehem man died in a Friday night crash in Allen Township.<\/p>\n
Daniel Gutierrez, 20, was pronounced dead around 10 p.m. at the scene near the intersection of Weaversville Road and Drexel Drive, according to a state police news release.<\/p>\n
Police said Gutierrez was driving northbound on Weaversville Road when he attempted to cross over to the southbound lane of travel to pass several vehicles on the two-lane road.<\/p>\n
He was driving \u201cat a high rate of speed\u201d when he crested a slight hill, and, unable to see oncoming traffic, lost control of the vehicle, police said. The car crossed back over the northbound travel lane and off the roadway, hitting a utility pole and continuing through a cornfield, overturning multiple times.<\/p>\n
State police are investigating, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
Weaversville Road in the area of the crash was closed for about four hours after the crash.<\/p>\n
State police, the Allen Township Fire Department, Northampton Regional EMS, Northampton Regional Fire Department and Northampton County Coroner\u2019s Office all responded to the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Bethlehem man died in a Friday night crash in Allen Township.
