A man was shot after drawing his gun while trying to defend himself and his cousin during an armed robbery in Philadelphia, police said.<\/p>\n
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers were called to the 4100 block of Germantown Avenue around 2:19 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2026 after receiving a report about a person with a gun.<\/p>\n
When officers got to the scene, police said they found the 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left leg. Police transported him to a nearby hospital where he was placed in stable condition.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation indicated that four unidentified men robbed the victim’s cousin of a Rolex watch reportedly valued at $25,000, police said.<\/p>\n
An additional suspect approached the 25-year-old man on a bicycle and pointed a handgun at him, according to investigators.<\/p>\n
Police said the man, who is licensed to carry a gun, drew his weapon to defend himself and his cousin. His firearm malfunctioned, however, and he was shot.<\/p>\n
The suspects fled eastbound on Juniata Street. Police recovered the victim’s gun at the scene.<\/p>\n
