TRENTON, N.J. – K9 Zito, a 9-year-old German Shepherd who served with the New Jersey State Police, passed away Aug. 13.<\/p>\n
State police, in a Facebook post, that Zito served alongside his handler, Trooper I. Nicholas Davis, with the New Jersey State Police K9 South Unit.<\/p>\n
For nine years, Zito specialized in patrol response and narcotics detection, state police said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout his career, he demonstrated unwavering dedication, courage, and loyalty in service to the public,\u201d state police said in the Facebook post.<\/p>\n
\u201cZito will forever be remembered as a dedicated public servant, loyal partner, and cherished member of the New Jersey State Police family.<\/p>\n
\u201cRest easy, K9 Zito.
