Camia\u00a0Rosella Capalongo\u00a0\u201927, an accounting major from Scranton, has been named a 2026 Scholar by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, earning a $15,000 scholarship through the organization\u2019s nationally competitive program.<\/p>\n
Capalongo\u00a0is one of 677 college students in the U.S. to receive the scholarship, which recognizes students pursuing accounting studies and supports their development as future professionals in the field.<\/p>\n
Capalongo,\u00a0who graduated from West Scranton High School, is a dean’s list student and a member of\u00a0both the Frank P. Corcione Business Honors Program and the Robert L. McKeage Business Leadership Honors Program. She is actively involved in the Kania School of Management Student Advisory Board, the Beta Alpha Psi and Omega Beta Sigma Honor Societies, Kania Women in Business, the Italian\u00a0Society\u00a0and the Commuter Student Association. She interned this past spring with Kronick, Kalada,\u00a0Berdy\u00a0and Co. in Kingston.<\/p>\n
“I am truly grateful to receive the PCAOB Scholarship,” Capalongo said. “This financial support will have a meaningful impact on my education and inspires me to continue working hard as I pursue a career in accounting.”<\/p>\n
Capalongo\u00a0is the seventh University of Scranton student to receive the scholarship since 2017, bringing the total amount awarded to Scranton students through the program to $85,000.<\/p>\n
The Scholars Program was launched in 2017 by the PCAOB, which is a nonprofit corporation\u00a0established\u00a0by Congress. It is charged with overseeing the audits of public companies to protect investors and further public interest and trust in audit reports.<\/p>\n
