SALISBURY TWP., Pa. \u2013 A destination for meatloaf, crab cakes, chicken croquettes and other homestyle favorites is bidding farewell in Lehigh County.<\/p>\n
Susquehanna Street Diner, offering made-from-scratch dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, will hold its last day of operation on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 1701 E. Susquehanna St. in Salisbury Township, according to an announcement on the business\u2019 Facebook page.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith a heavy heart, we want to let you know that we will be closing our restaurant on August 23rd at 9 p.m.,\u201d the announcement reads.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the very beginning, your support, loyalty, and kindness have meant more to us than words can express. Every meal you shared with us, every visit, every recommendation, and every kind word helped make our restaurant what it was. We are incredibly grateful for all the memories we have created together. Serving you and being a part of your lives has been an honor and a privilege,\u201d the post says.<\/p>\n
Owner and head chef Jaime Rodriguez, a restaurant veteran with decades of culinary experience, opened Susquehanna Street Diner in October 2023.<\/p>\n
The restaurant is a family affair with Robert Rodriguez, Jaime\u2019s son, serving as general manager.<\/p>\n
Susquehanna Street Diner, with seating for approximately 75 diners at booths and tables with chairs, serves up a wide array of freshly prepared hot and cold eats, including wraps such as chicken Caesar and tuna salad, club sandwiches such as roast turkey and corned beef and Swiss, hot sandwiches such as meatloaf and roast beef and burgers such as mushroom, bacon, Swiss and bacon with onion rings, barbecue sauce and cheddar.<\/p>\n
There are also Mexican dishes such as chilaquiles, fajitas, nachos, tacos, tortas and tostadas.<\/p>\n
Breakfast selections, available all day, include egg dishes such as eggs Benedict, bagel and croissant sandwiches, chorizo breakfast quesadillas and three-egg omelettes such as Greek, Philly and Maryland crab.<\/p>\n
Other breakfast menu highlights include New York strip steak with home fries and toast, chicken and waffles, French toast, pancakes and sticky buns.<\/p>\n
The diner also serves up a variety of dinner platters, served with soup or salad, including seafood such as broiled haddock and fried shrimp, Italian options such as homemade lasagna and veal parmesan, chops and steaks such as two pork chops and New York steak, and stir-fry selections such as chicken, beef, shrimp and scallops.<\/p>\n
Prior to opening, the Rodriguezes installed new kitchen equipment and added cosmetic touches to the space, which previously housed other dining establishments, including Pantry Diner, Francesco\u2019s Italian Ristorante & Pizzeria, MaGia\u2019s Friendly Italian and, most recently, Mama Minniti\u2019s.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough this chapter is coming to an end, we will always carry the memories, friendships, and support you gave us,\u201d the closing announcement continues.<\/p>\n
