New Castle Lawn & Landscape recently received national recognition from Lawn & Landscape magazine. The Berks County company is among 27 companies named to Lawn & Landscape\u2019s 2026 list of Best Places to Work.<\/p>\n
New Castle Lawn & Landscape, headquartered in Cumru Township, landed in the 16th spot overall on the annual list, and sixth on the medium employer category for companies with 50-99 employees.<\/p>\n
The company, which has 71 employees, serves commercial and residential clients throughout the region with a variety of services that include hardscaping and outdoor living design, landscaping, commercial property maintenance and snow removal and tree services.\u00a0In addition to its Berks headquarters, New Castle has a satellite location in Wayne, Delaware County.<\/p>\n
The survey and awards program was created in 2022, and was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment, benefiting the industry\u2019s economy, its workforce and businesses, according to a release. It is a project of the magazine and Best Companies Group.<\/p>\n
Participation in this year\u2019s program consisted of two parts, according to the release. The first was an evaluation of each nominated company\u2019s workplace policies, practices and demographics \u2014 which was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey \u2014 worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation.<\/p>\n
Employees were surveyed on the following areas, according to information on Lawn & Landscape\u2019s website: leadership; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training, development and resource; pay and benefits; and overall engagement.<\/p>\n
The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings, according to the release.<\/p>\n
To be considered for participation, each company was required to meet several eligibility requirements:<\/p>\n
\u2022 50% or more of revenue coming from landscaping services, which includes maintenance, chemical lawn care, irrigation, design\/build, hardscapes, tree care and interior landscaping, landscape lighting.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Be a publicly or privately held business.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Based in the U.S. or Canada.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Have a minimum of 15 full- or part-time employees.<\/p>\n
\u2022 In business a minimum of one year.<\/p>\n
