{"id":267951,"date":"2026-08-19T04:28:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T04:28:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/267951\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T04:28:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T04:28:42","slug":"erie-county-haz-mat-responds-to-edinboro-chemical-leak-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/267951\/","title":{"rendered":"Erie County Haz-Mat responds to Edinboro chemical leak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Erie County Haz-Mat Team responded early Tuesday morning to a corrosive chemical leak in Edinboro.<\/p>\n<p>According to Erie County Emergency Management Coordinator Brian Mesaros, crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of Marketplace Drive, just off of the I-79 Edinboro exit.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourerie.com\/news\/local-news\/code-enforcement-process-explained-as-property-concerns-persist\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n\t\tCode enforcement process explained as property concerns persist\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Calls initially were for a tanker truck leaking gasoline in the parking lot of Comfort Suites, but they quickly came to learn that it wasn\u2019t fuel that the tanker was carrying, but a caustic waste product.<\/p>\n<p>Mesaros said a valve at the back of the tanker was the cause of the leak. Only about two to three gallons spilled onto the pavement.<\/p>\n<p>The Edinboro Fire Department put up a pool to catch any remaining leaks while they remediated the area, putting an absorbent material on what was left.<\/p>\n<p>The company who owns the tanker is working with Erie Haz-Mat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Erie County Haz-Mat Team responded early Tuesday morning to a corrosive chemical leak in Edinboro.
