{"id":268012,"date":"2026-08-19T06:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T06:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/268012\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T06:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T06:36:09","slug":"pittsburgh-restaurant-ordered-closed-by-health-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/268012\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh restaurant ordered closed by Health Department"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A restaurant in Pittsburgh has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.<\/p>\n<p>An inspection shows 17 total violations a Chaai &amp; Chaatwala, an Indian restaurant in Oakland on Centre Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the violations are considered high-risk.<\/p>\n<p>They include several food items inside a sandwich prep cooler temped between 57 and 65 degrees, well above the cold-holding temperature of 41 degrees or lower.<\/p>\n<p>That cooler is unable to hold a temperature of 41 degrees or lower.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the restaurant is unable to clean and sanitize dishes due to a sink not being able to drain.<\/p>\n<p>Rodent droppings were found in several areas including on a shelf near a walk-in cooler, behind cooking equipment on a counter and a bug zapper was found on a counter behind cooking equipment. <\/p>\n<p>The restaurant must take several steps before it can reopen.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the full inspection report and any updates to its status <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleghenycounty.us\/Services\/Health-Department\/Food-Safety\/Alerts-Closures-and-Enforcements\/Consumer-Alerts-and-Closures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A restaurant in Pittsburgh has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.
