Woman shot and killed in Bedford Dwellings neighborhood<\/p>\n

Police are searching for a heavy set man who ran from the scene. <\/p>\n

The search is on for a suspect in a deadly shooting in Pittsburgh’s Bedford Dwelling neighborhood. <\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Public Safety said officers were dispatched to Chauncey Drive for a woman shot in the head just before 3 a.m. This is right off of Bedford Avenue. She was found right outside her apartment. Medics pronounced her dead on scene. <\/p>\n

Public safety officials said a heavy set man ran from the scene. Detectives recovered 5-6 shell casings. <\/p>\n

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 also saw a K-9 on scene heading down Bedford Ave. Public safety officals said the K-9 is gun detection dog. <\/p>\n

“On scene right now police have called in a gun detection dog so that dog and the handler are casing the area at the moment concerning any firearms,” Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said. <\/p>\n

There is no word on the name of the victim. <\/p>\n
