A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty to numerous offenses across five different criminal complaints, most of which resulted in time-served sentences.<\/p>\n
Aaron A. Sutton, 31, of the 700 block of West Rockland Street, entered negotiated guilty pleas to charges of forgery, identity theft, theft of mail, theft by deception, possession of an access device knowing it is counterfeit or altered, inmate procuring a weapon, false identification to a law enforcement officer, and possession of a controlled substance.<\/p>\n
Under the terms negotiated by Assistant District Attorney Beth Ramos and defense counsel Lindsay Palmer, Sutton would serve a maximum 8 to 23 months with credit for time served on the most serious charges, as well as four years of consecutive probation.<\/p>\n
Because Sutton had already served the minimum on most of the cases, he was eligible for immediate parole on all but one docket, which still required approximately one month to meet the minimum.<\/p>\n
Sutton was hesitant when he learned that in court, but decided to move forward with the plea after learning he is most likely eligible for \u201cgood time\u201d credit that would bring that sentence under the threshold of time served for immediate parole as well.<\/p>\n
According to the five affidavits of probable cause for his arrest, in order:<\/p>\n
Sutton went to the Marple Walmart at 400 S. State Road on May 19, 2025, and concealed $140 in merchandise, then selected another $209 of merchandise and attempted to return it without having first bought it. When he was denied the return, Sutton left with the $140 in merchandise without paying for that either.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 9, 2025, Sutton was stopped driving a Hyundai Genesis with an expired plate that had been issued to another vehicle. Sutton declined a search of the vehicle. The Hyundai was towed and later searched, uncovering 55 suspected altered and\/or stolen checks totaling $27,251. Also found in the vehicle were various pieces of mail belonging to other people, buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films, and marijuana.<\/p>\n
On Sept. 15, 2025, Sutton was arrested in that same vehicle with the same plate in Haverford. The plate was determined to have been stolen and several tolls and driving violations had been attributed to it. Sutton provided the arresting officer with the name and license for another person in both traffic stops, but was correctly identified by his fingerprints. It was also learned during the Sept. 15 arrest that Sutton had four warrants out for his arrest in Newtown, Warrington, Philadelphia and by the Delaware County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
