An Erie man who spent the month of June raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease is now receiving recognition from his community for his efforts and determination.<\/p>\n
Jack Schumacher was honored as an Erie Hometown Hero during an Erie SeaWolves game, celebrating the impact he has made through his advocacy and commitment to raising awareness about Alzheimer’s.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Erie News Now introduced viewers to Schumacher and his daughter, Rylee, as the pair embarked on a challenge to run and bike 100 miles together. Their goal was to shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease and help others better understand the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by the condition.<\/p>\n
Just weeks after completing that awareness campaign, Schumacher is being recognized not only for his advocacy work but also for the inspiration he provides to those around him while living with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.<\/p>\n
Rylee says her dad continues to approach each day with determination and positivity, and he still rides his bicycle every day while remaining active despite the challenges associated with the disease.<\/p>\n
For Rylee, her father’s recognition is well deserved. She says her dad continues to be her best friend and a source of inspiration for their family and others in the community.<\/p>\n
