Montgomery County had about 32% of the 16,834 citations in the state for speeding in a school zone during that five-year period, according to data released by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.<\/p>\n
The Montgomery figure was tops in the state.<\/p>\n
Delaware County and Chester County had about 9% and 6%, respectively, of the total citations.<\/p>\n
State law sets the speed limit at 15 mph in a school zone.<\/p>\n
Those three counties also were among the tops in citations for passing a stopped school bus, according to the data.<\/p>\n

Montgomery County had about 13% of the 8,302 citations statewide, with Chester County at about 6% and Delaware County at about 5%.<\/p>\n
State law requires drivers to stop at least 10 feet before reaching a school bus when its red signal lights are flashing and the side stop signal arms are extended.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Montgomery: 5,326 citations; 31.64%<\/p>\n
\u2022 Delaware: 1,558 citations; 9.26%<\/p>\n
\u2022 Bucks: 1,459 citations; 8.67%<\/p>\n
\u2022 Allegheny: 1,255 citations; 7.46%<\/p>\n
\u2022 Chester: 974 citations; 5.79%<\/p>\n
Bradford, Montour and Warren counties had the fewest total citations with one during the five-year period, representing 0.01% of the total citations.<\/p>\n
