Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) has shared renderings of costumes for the primary characters in its all-new production of \u201cThe Nutcracker,\u201d which will premiere in December 2027. <\/p>\n
PBT\u2019s new version of \u201cThe Nutcracker,\u201d is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Pittsburgh audiences to experience an updated adaptation of this holiday tradition. The updated version will succeed PBT\u2019s current production of Terrence S. Orr\u2019s \u201cThe Nutcracker,\u201d which will end its 24-year run in December. <\/p>\n
Susan Roemer, founder of S-Curve Apparel & Design, is designing the costumes and scenic elements for the new production. Roemer is a former professional dancer and recipient of an Isadora Duncan Award for Visual Design. Her costume designs for \u201cThe Nutcracker\u201d reflect the 1906 and 1956 time periods of the Pittsburgh-based story.<\/p>\n
PBT\u2019s all-new version of \u201cThe Nutcracker\u201d features more than 74 different original character costumes, 192 costumes on stage for each performance, and more than 150 hats, headpieces, and accessories.<\/p>\n
