LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — Lower Merion police say two suspects are in custody and a third remains on the run after an attempted home breakin Thursday afternoon on the 2000 block of Old Gulph Road.<\/p>\n
Police said a resident called to report the attempted burglary, prompting officers to respond.<\/p>\n
As officers arrived, three suspects fled the area in a blue pickup truck.<\/p>\n
According to Superintendent Andy Block, officers spotted the vehicle on Montgomery Avenue and followed it until the chase ended on Tenmore Road.<\/p>\n
“All three exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Multiple witnesses in the area saw this and provided up-to-date information,” Block said.<\/p>\n
He added that the suspects “had hoodies on initially and they were shedding the hoodies. They were down in white T-shirts and white colored shorts.”<\/p>\n
Police said two suspects were quickly apprehended, while the third – believed to be in his 20s – ran toward The Haverford School.<\/p>\n
The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Radnor and Haverford police assisted in the search, and the suspects’ truck was towed from the scene.<\/p>\n
Block said there is “no risk to the public as far as we’re concerned.”<\/p>\n
Nearby business owner Keo Chea, who runs Lily and Oak Wellness Spa, said the incident was unsettling.<\/p>\n
“Shaken up as a business owner, as a new business owner in the area, where we hardly see any action,” she said. “I’m very reassured that I saw so many police here for something as scary as burglary in broad daylight. I’m shocked that would even happen here in this community because it’s always so safe.”<\/p>\n
Police continue searching for the third suspect and are asking residents to report any relevant information.<\/p>\n
