SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 More than $7 million in state funding has been awarded for four transportation and infrastructure projects in Lackawanna County, according to state Rep. Kyle Donahue.<\/p>\n
The funding, awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, will support projects within the 113th Legislative District.<\/p>\n
The largest award is nearly $3 million to replace the Ash Street Bridge.<\/p>\n
Another $2 million will go toward widening and signage improvements along Montage Mountain Road.<\/p>\n
The University of Scranton will receive $1.5 million for pedestrian access and drainage improvements on its campus.<\/p>\n
An additional $1,311,593 will fund infrastructure improvements along North Main Avenue and Green Ridge Street.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvesting in our transportation infrastructure means investing in safer roads, stronger connections and a better quality of life for our communities,\u201d Donahue said.<\/p>\n
The four awards total approximately $7.81 million.<\/p>\n
Donahue said the projects will improve transportation for residents, workers and motorists who rely on roads throughout the district.<\/p>\n
The money comes through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Statewide Competitive Funding Program, which provides financial assistance for transportation projects across Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
