A 27-year-old woman was killed and a 45-year-old man was hospitalized after they were shot inside a Pennsylvania home Saturday morning, Aug. 22, State Police announced.<\/p>\n
Freemansburg Borough police were called to a home on the 20 block of Market Street at approximately 6:09 a.m. for a 911 call, according to PSP Troop M – Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
Officers entered the home and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. They immediately began life-saving measures and took a 27-year-old Freemansburg woman into custody.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined the woman had shot another 27-year-old Freemansburg woman and a 45-year-old Freemansburg man in the front living room of the residence, according to PSP.<\/p>\n
Both victims were taken by EMS to St. Luke’s University Hospital-Bethlehem, where the 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead at 7:16 a.m., according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. The man remained hospitalized as of Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Buglio ruled the woman’s death a homicide caused by a gunshot injury. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24, at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center.<\/p>\n
The woman has been positively identified, but authorities are withholding her identity at this time, the coroner said.<\/p>\n
The identities of the hospitalized man and the woman taken into custody also have not been released.<\/p>\n
Criminal charges are forthcoming, state police said. The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by the PSP Troop M Major Case Team.<\/p>\n
The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Freemansburg Borough Police Department, and several other law enforcement units are assisting with the investigation.<\/p>\n
