Rittenhouse Square will become an open-air gallery when the Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show brings 145 professional artists to the park from Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20.<\/p>\n
Artists from around the country will display original paintings, sculpture, glass, ceramics, mixed-media pieces, prints and other work. Attendees can browse the booths, meet the artists and purchase art directly from them.<\/p>\n
The show is marking its 99th year in Philadelphia. It began in 1928, when a small group of local art students displayed their work on clotheslines in the square.<\/p>\n
Student artists remain part of the event and will have an opportunity to exhibit their work alongside professionals and connect with potential customers.<\/p>\n
Restorative Justice will serve as the show\u2019s community outreach partner and have a presence in the center of the park. The program combines art education, professional development and mural projects for incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and other justice-impacted people.<\/p>\n
