{"id":270909,"date":"2026-08-23T22:48:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T22:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/270909\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T22:48:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T22:48:09","slug":"local-church-supports-firefighters-by-donating-water-and-drinks-allentown-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/270909\/","title":{"rendered":"Local church supports firefighters by donating water and drinks | Allentown Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ALLENTOWN, Pa. &#8212; A local church gave back to those who help protect us Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan United Church of Christ in Allentown wrapped up their water drive.<\/p>\n<p>For three weeks &#8211; the church and its congregation gathered cases of water, Gatorade or Powerade to give to the Woodlawn Fire Department in South Whitehall.<\/p>\n<p>They were inspired after seeing a story about how fire departments are running out of water to keep their fire fighters hydrated during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I said hey, let&#8217;s do this as a fundraiser with the church. We&#8217;re not getting any money for it but we&#8217;re giving back to the community,&#8221; Jennifer Garcia, administrative assistant for the church, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In total they gathered 49 cases of water, 28 cases of Gatorade and electrolyte drinks, and six packs of powdered electrolytes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN, Pa. &#8212; A local church gave back to those who help protect us Sunday.
