A Scranton man faces felony theft charges after stealing an ATV, which he then tried to sell on Facebook Marketplace, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Detective Curtis Rucker of the Woolwich Twp. Police Department in New Jersey contacted Scranton police regarding a stolen Polaris 500 ATV.<\/p>\n
The owner of the stolen ATV spotted it listed for sale on the social media site by an individual using the profile name of \u201cIconz Yachy,\u201d later identified as Yasin Holmes, police said.<\/p>\n
Rucker set up a meeting with the seller to purchase the ATV at a U-Haul facility on the 200 block of South Seventh Avenue in Scranton.<\/p>\n
Rucker advised Scranton police the suspect had dropped off the ATV at the facility earlier that day and was driving a green Honda Ridgeline.<\/p>\n
Scranton officers reviewed U-Haul security footage and spotted Holmes entering the storage area in the Honda at about 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
At about noon, Holmes drove up in the Honda and directed officers to the stolen ATV.<\/p>\n
City detectives verified the vehicle identification number on the Polaris 500 ATV, confirming it was a stolen vehicle from New Jersey, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
Officers moved in to arrest Holmes, who denied stealing the vehicle. They noted he had a cigarette containing marijuana tucked in his ear.<\/p>\n
Once at police headquarters, Holmes again denied stealing the vehicle and said he purchased it in York for $1,200. He could not produce a title to the vehicle or a bill of sale, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
In addition to felony theft, he is also charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.<\/p>\n
He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.<\/p>\n
