{"id":271314,"date":"2026-08-24T16:48:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T16:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/271314\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T16:48:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T16:48:11","slug":"police-id-woman-charged-in-deadly-northampton-co-double-shooting-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/271314\/","title":{"rendered":"Police ID woman charged in deadly Northampton Co. double shooting \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police identified a woman accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/woman-killed-in-double-shooting-in-northampton-county-on-saturday-police-say\/4452244\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">shooting and killing another woman and injuring a man in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lacole Diane Dotson, 27, of Freemansburg, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 6 a.m., police responded to a home on Market Street in Freemansburg for a 911 call. When they arrived, they found Atirah Steed, 27, of Freemansburg, and a 45-year-old man who were both suffering from gunshot wounds inside the living room of the home.<\/p>\n<p>Steed was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead about an hour later at 7:16 a.m. An autopsy on Monday, Aug. 24, revealed she died from multiple gunshot wounds and her death was ruled a homicide. <\/p>\n<p>The 45-year-old man remains hospitalized. Officials have not yet revealed his condition. <\/p>\n<p>Police identified Dotson as the suspect in the double shooting. She is in custody at Northampton County Prison after her bail was denied.<\/p>\n<p>Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2026.
