Javier Santos-Rivera, 41, of Allentown, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, sexual assault, simple assault, indecent assault, and intimidation of a witness or victim, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan said.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania State Police were called to an area hospital around 7:17 a.m. on March 21 after a 19-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted, according to the DA’s office. Investigators determined the assault happened at a hotel in Lower Macungie Township.<\/p>\n
The woman told investigators she was in a relationship with Santos-Rivera and the pair had gone to dinner before returning to a hotel room he had rented, authorities said.<\/p>\n
While they initially engaged in consensual sexual activity, Santos-Rivera began biting the woman’s genitals, according to investigators.<\/p>\n
She screamed in pain and repeatedly told him to stop, but he continued for several minutes while restraining her with his wrists and waist, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The attack left the woman with severe swelling and pain, making her unable to walk or put on her clothes, according to the DA’s office.<\/p>\n
Santos-Rivera put his coat on her, carried her to his car, and dropped her off at the hospital, authorities said. The vehicle that left her at the emergency room was registered to him.<\/p>\n
The woman’s injuries were so severe that she required surgery.<\/p>\n
Daily Voice obtained court documents on Monday, Aug. 24, showing Santos-Rivera faces seven counts, including two first-degree felonies \u2014 involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and aggravated assault \u2014 as well as felony sexual assault.<\/p>\n
Santos-Rivera was initially taken to the Lehigh County Jail after he was unable to post $100,000 bail on Aug. 19, court records show.<\/p>\n
A professional bondsman posted the $100,000 surety bond the following day, and Santos-Rivera was released, according to the docket.<\/p>\n
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, before Magisterial District Judge Michael J. Faulkner.<\/p>\n
The case was investigated by Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Matthew Gill and is being prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Sarah K. Heimbach, according to the DA’s office.<\/p>\n
