{"id":271792,"date":"2026-08-25T08:24:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T08:24:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/271792\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T08:24:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T08:24:07","slug":"readings-community-development-director-to-retire-reading-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/271792\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading\u2019s community development director to retire | Reading Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>READING, Pa. \u2013 The City of Reading\u2019s community development director is retiring.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of Monday\u2019s Reading City Council meeting,\u00a0Managing Director\u00a0Jack Gombach announced that David Barr has announced he is retiring from the position of community development director, which he held for a year since July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Gombach said Barr\u2019s last day will be on Friday and that Mayor Eddie Moran appointed Gombach as interim director.<\/p>\n<p>Barr is a native of Reading but spent the majority of his career serving in key roles in managing construction, energy, and facility planning with the U.S. Department of State.<\/p>\n<p>He retired from the Foreign Service in 2022 and has since continued supporting diplomatic housing and construction projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"READING, Pa. \u2013 The City of Reading\u2019s community development director is retiring.
