READING, Pa. –\u00a0Reading Hospital will recognize National Community Health Worker Awareness Week with 2 interactive simulations designed to bring awareness to the challenges that can affect health, well-being, and access to care.<\/p>\n
The hospital says the poverty and reentry simulations will allow participants to experience real-world challenges related to housing, employment, access to health care, transportation, and finances.<\/p>\n
Organizers say they intend for participants to leave with a greater appreciation for the challenges individuals may face and the vital role that collaboration among healthcare teams, Community Health Workers, and community organizations plays in reducing barriers and improving health outcomes.<\/p>\n
The simulations will both take place in Reading Hospital Conference Center Rooms 1, 2, and 3.<\/p>\n
The poverty simulation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4:30 p.m., and the reentry simulation will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
According to the hospital, the free simulations are open to employees and community partners interested in learning more about barriers that can affect individuals and families.<\/p>\n
