The following was released today by the Barrow County Sheriff\u2019s Office:<\/p>\n
(Bethlehem) \u2013 On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the Barrow County<\/p>\n
Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck at the Super H gas<\/p>\n
station located at 752 Christmas Avenue.<\/p>\n
The preliminary investigation indicates that the dump truck experienced an apparent mechanical<\/p>\n
issue while traveling in the area. According to the driver, the vehicle lost power, causing him to<\/p>\n
lose the ability to properly steer and stop the vehicle. The dump truck subsequently struck a<\/p>\n
utility pole before continuing into the Super H building.<\/p>\n
A store clerk who was inside the building at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries and<\/p>\n
was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the dump truck sustained minor<\/p>\n
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) was notified and is assisting with the investigation<\/p>\n
involving the commercial vehicle.<\/p>\n
Georgia Power was also notified and responded to the scene due to damage sustained to the<\/p>\n
The Sheriff\u2019s Office and utility crews remain in the area working to ensure the scene is safe.<\/p>\n
Motorists and members of the public are asked to use caution when traveling through the area<\/p>\n
and to avoid the immediate scene when possible.<\/p>\n
