Too Short\u2019s song \u201cBlow the Whistle\u201d blared from Larry Krasner\u2019s phone as he walked out of his Center City office Wednesday morning to speak to reporters, a day after a landslide election victory that secured him a third term as Philadelphia\u2019s district attorney.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a hell of a team,\u201d said Krasner, a progressive Democrat who has focused on reshaping the prosecutor\u2019s office<\/a> since taking the reins in 2018. \u201cYeah, this is a three-peat.\u201d<\/p>\n Voters overwhelmingly supported the incumbent Tuesday. Krasner earned 76% of the ballots<\/a> and received in excess of 180,000 more votes than his challenger, Pat Dugan, who fell to Krasner in May\u2019s primary before accepting the GOP nomination<\/a>.<\/p>\n A coordinated Republican write-in campaign allowed Dugan the opportunity at a rematch, even though he dismissed the possibility of appearing on the GOP ticket in the run-up to the May race.<\/p>\n Dugan, a former Municipal Court judge, fared worse in the most recent contest. His vote share stood Wednesday at 24%, compared to nearly 36% in the spring primary, according to data from the City Commissioners.<\/a><\/p>\n Preliminary results show he was unable to attract enough support outside of traditional conservative strongholds. He won a majority in only 10 of the city\u2019s 66 political wards, primarily in Northeast Philadelphia.<\/p>\n Dugan had harsh words for Krasner during his concession speech Tuesday night.<\/p>\n \u201cI got fewer votes than Larry Krasner,\u201d he said. \u201cBut make no mistake about it, Larry Krasner did not win this election. The truth won. Because throughout this campaign, Larry Krasner was finally exposed for what he is, a despicable, uncaring, heartless human being.\u201d<\/p>\n Krasner, in remarks Wednesday morning, made no mention of Dugan. Instead, he took aim at a familiar foe.<\/p>\n
