PITTSBURGH \u2014 The mother of a woman shot and killed in Pittsburgh\u2019s Strip District is demanding answers more than three weeks after her daughter\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
Carolyn Morrison became emotional at times while remembering her daughter, La\u2019Eva Morrison, a mother of two.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was the life of the party, you hear me? When I tell you she lit up a room, her smile, everything about Eva. Eva was Eva,\u201d Morrison said.<\/p>\n
PREVIOUS COVERAGE >>> \u2018Her spirit is here\u2019: Mourners gather to honor Strip District shooting victim<\/a><\/p>\n Police said La\u2019Eva Morrison was shot and killed in the Strip District the evening of Sunday, August 2, 2026, near the intersection of 27th and Liberty Avenue.<\/p>\n PREVIOUS COVERAGE >>> Woman dead after Strip District shooting<\/a><\/p>\n Her family and a witness told Channel 11 that before the deadly shooting, La\u2019Eva was involved in a fight with three other people in a parking lot.<\/p>\n At the time, a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson said three people were detained and taken to police headquarters for questioning.<\/p>\n No arrests have been announced.<\/p>\n Carolyn Morrison said she has repeatedly contacted investigators but has received few answers about the case.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m contacting them. I\u2019m asking them questions. They haven\u2019t gave me anything,\u201d Morrison said. \u201cThey didn\u2019t call me to tell me that my daughter was shot.\u201d<\/p>\n Morrison is also questioning a family connection with the suspected shooter.<\/p>\n She told Channel 11 the suspected shooter\u2019s father works for Pittsburgh Public Safety.<\/p>\n Sources confirmed to 11 investigates the suspected shooter\u2019s father was hired with the city\u2019s public safety department the week of the shooting.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s a conflict of interest because it was your daughter that unalived my daughter, and I have a problem with that,\u201d Morrison said.<\/p>\n The city does not plan to turn the investigation over to an outside agency, according to sources.<\/p>\n Morrison believes a third-party agency should look into the deadly shooting further.<\/p>\n \u201cCounty Police can investigate it. Somebody from outside of Pittsburgh can investigate it because, guess what? It ain\u2019t getting swept under the rug,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n As the family continues grieving and searching for answers, a witness who asked not to be identified said the shooting never had to happen.<\/p>\n \u201cYou didn\u2019t have to shoot her. We were fighting,\u201d the witness said. \u201cPeople fight every day.
