Woman who lost daughter in Strip District shooting is calling for answers<\/p>\n

A mother is calling for justice after her daughter was shot and killed in the Strip District earlier this month. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen she loved you, she loved you. And she loved hard,\u201d Carolyn Morrison told Pittsburgh\u2019s Action News 4 Reporter Jordan Cioppa. “If she was your friend, she was your friend to the very end.”<\/p>\n

Carolyn Morrison said her daughter, La\u2019Eva Morrison, was loving, caring, compassionate and the life of the party. <\/p>\n

When she wasn\u2019t working at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital, the mom of two loved to spend time with her friends and family. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe was a people person,\u201d Carolyn Morrison said. \u201cShe loved being around people and they loved being around her.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Aug. 2, La\u2019Eva Morrison\u2019s life came to an abrupt end at 34 years old. According to Pittsburgh police, she was shot in the face in the Strip District<\/a>. She left behind two daughters, ages 2 and 5. <\/p>\n

Carolyn Morrison said she rushed to the hospital when she got the call. <\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone from the street called me and told me,\u201d the victim\u2019s mother said. \u201cAnd I went to Mercy Hospital, I seen a bunch of people, and I jumped out the car, and I said, \u2018Tell me it ain\u2019t so.\u2019 And they said, \u2018Eva’s gone,\u2019 and I lost it. I lost it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A witness who wished to remain anonymous said they were with La\u2019Eva Morrison the night of the shooting. According to the witness\u2019s account, La\u2019Eva Morrison and the witness were involved in a fight with two women. <\/p>\n

After the fight ended, the witness said they started walking the other way when the gun was fired at La\u2019Eva Morrison.<\/p>\n

“She wasn’t a threat. She didn’t have a weapon on her. She was walking away. That’s not self-defense, that’s a retaliation,\u201d Carolyn Morrison said. <\/p>\n

Police said at the time three people were detained, however, no charges were filed.<\/p>\n

According to the witness, they were detained. <\/p>\n

Carolyn Morrison said she has yet to receive answers from Pittsburgh police. She wanted to know why there haven\u2019t been any arrests. <\/p>\n

“It ain\u2019t about me. It\u2019s about her babies getting justice, and Imma get justice. I (will) die getting justice. If that’s the last thing I do, I (will) get justice for her babies,\u201d Carolyn Morrison said. <\/p>\n
