<\/p>\n‘Frustrating for families:’ West Mifflin school district working with company to correct bus delay mishaps<\/p>\n

The West Mifflin Area School District said it is working to address concerns after multiple reports of buses running hours behind schedule and missing stops on the first day of school. <\/p>\n
In an updated letter Tuesday,<\/a> the district said it’s working directly with Krise Transportation to address the problems, saying officials met with the company to discuss what needs improvement.<\/p>\n “We know the first several days of transportation have been frustrating for many families. Krise has hired several new drivers, all of whom are local to the area. The company is also reviewing routes each day and using additional buses to help when delays occur,” the letter said. “Traffic and construction along Lebanon Church Road continue to affect several routes, particularly those traveling between the north and south ends of the District. Krise is looking at route changes and other adjustments to reduce delays and keep buses on schedule.”<\/p>\n The district said that when contacting the transportation company about any problems, parents and guardians should include their child’s last name, bus number, bus stop, and give a brief description of what occurred. <\/p>\n Krise will respond to calls and emails within two business days, the letter said. <\/p>\n Three transportation town halls have since been scheduled to allow families to speak directly with representatives from Krise Transportation. <\/p>\n The following dates are as follows: <\/p>\n Thursday, Aug. 27, at West Mifflin Area Middle SchoolTuesday, Sept. 1, at Clara Barton Elementary SchoolWednesday, Sept. 2, at West Mifflin Area Middle School<\/p>\n Each meeting will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All K-12 families are welcome to attend any of the meetings and bring their questions and concerns.<\/p>\n “We will continue working with Krise, monitoring the routes and sharing updates with families as improvements are made,” the letter concluded. <\/p>\n Download the WTAE app<\/a> to stay connected with breaking news.
