Penn State Master Gardeners of Berks County will hold their annual fall plant sale on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. indoors at the North Campus Activity Center (also known as the 4-H Center), 1206 County Welfare Road, Bern Township.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s located behind the Berks County Agricultural Center. Look for the signs.<\/p>\n
Perennials, shrubs, native plants and houseplants will be available.<\/p>\n
The Master Gardeners call the event Plant Sale with a Difference due to the many Master Gardener volunteers on hand to help with all your plant selections.<\/p>\n
In addition to helping with plant choices, Master Gardeners will offer information on soil preparation, planting techniques, lawn care and composting.<\/p>\n
They are adept at finding appropriate plants for difficult situations where the most commonly used plants may not fare well.<\/p>\n
Customers may even request their own personal shopping assistant to guide their plant choices.<\/p>\n
Planting in fall has advantages over planting in the spring. The cooler fall temperatures give your plants time to establish a root system before winter. You will also use less water than during the hot days of spring and summer.<\/p>\n
Free literature will be available on dozens of garden topics, including spotted lanternfly. Cash, checks, or Visa\/Mastercard\/Discover will be accepted.<\/p>\n
Proceeds benefit Master Gardener volunteer projects throughout Berks County.<\/p>\n
