The Erie Playhouse has announced its highly anticipated 111th season, themed “Legendary People & Legendary Stories,\u201d featuring an exciting lineup of beloved musicals, award-winning dramas, and youth productions that celebrate larger-than-life characters and timeless tales.<\/p>\n
The 2027 season will bring a mix of Playhouse favorites, regional premieres, and family-friendly productions to Erie audiences, continuing the theater’s long-standing tradition of delivering high-quality live entertainment.<\/p>\n
The season opens with “Troll\u2019s The Musical Jr.\u201d from January 22 until January 31, presented by Youtheatre at the Erie Playhouse. The high-energy production promises colorful characters, lively dancing, and memorable songs in what will be a Northwestern Pennsylvania premiere.<\/p>\n
One of the most anticipated productions of the year follows with \u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables,\u201d running February 19 through March 14 on the Playhouse Mainstage. The internationally acclaimed musical returns to Erie, bringing Victor Hugo\u2019s epic story of redemption, justice, and revolution back to local audiences.<\/p>\n
Youtheatre returns in the spring with \u201cHow to Train Your Dragon The Musical Jr.\u201d from May 14 until May 23, another Northwestern Pennsylvania premiere based on the popular animated film. The production highlights themes of friendship, courage, and acceptance.<\/p>\n
Summer programming begins with \u201cMan of La Mancha,\u201d scheduled for June 11 until June 27. The Tony Award-winning musical, inspired by the adventures of Don Quixote, makes its return to the Erie Playhouse stage with its enduring message of hope and idealism.<\/p>\n
Later in the summer, audiences will experience the Playhouse premiere of \u201cAnastasia: The Musical\u201d from July 30 through August 15. Based on the beloved animated film, the production combines history, mystery, and memorable music in a sweeping theatrical adventure.<\/p>\n
The fall season begins with \u201cAmadeus,\u201d running September 17 through October 3. Peter Shaffer\u2019s acclaimed play explores the complicated rivalry between musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and composer Antonio Salieri.<\/p>\n
October features the dramatic musical thriller \u201cJekyll & Hyde\u201d from October 15 until October 31, bringing Robert Louis Stevenson\u2019s classic tale of dual identities, love, and obsession to life.<\/p>\n
For younger audiences and families, \u201cRoald Dahl\u2019s James and the Giant Peach Jr.\u201d will take the stage November 12 until November 21. The whimsical musical adaptation of Dahl\u2019s beloved story promises adventure, imagination, and unforgettable characters.<\/p>\n
Closing the announced season is \u201cSanta Switch: A Holiday Jukebox Musical,\u201d running December 13 until December 19. Filled with Christmas favorites and pop hits, the festive production follows Santa and Mrs. Claus as they attempt to step away from their North Pole responsibilities.<\/p>\n
The Erie Playhouse also teased one additional Mainstage production that has yet to be announced, adding further anticipation to the upcoming season.<\/p>\n
