Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has \u201cacknowledged the possibility of getting a new stadium\u201d and even \u201centertained the idea that the Eagles could move out of South Philadelphia\u201d to build it, but Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro \u201cdoesn\u2019t seem to think that will happen,\u201d according to Johnny McGonigal of PENNLIVE. Shapiro said Tuesday, \u201cHere\u2019s what I can tell you for sure: It\u2019s going to be in the city of Philadelphia. We\u2019ll work with the Eagles once they determine what it is they\u2019re interested in doing. But I appreciate the thoughtful and deliberative approach that they\u2019ve taken to this process.\u201d Lincoln Financial Field, which opened in 2003, is heading into its 24th season as the home of the two-time Super Bowl champions. McGonigal wrote the stadium is \u201cstill in good shape\u201d and has undergone upgrades and renovations over the last two decades. Still, the Eagles have begun what Lurie called \u201cexploratory research\u201d on a new or renovated stadium<\/a>. Lurie, speaking at the NFL owners meetings in April, said that the goal is \u201cto have a more \u2018definitive approach\u2019 to the team\u2019s stadium plans in a year or two\u201d (PENNLIVE, 8\/25<\/a>). In Philadelphia, Jeff Neiburg noted the Eagles are at Lincoln Financial Field until 2032 under their current lease agreement.
