<\/p>\nA South Philadelphia woman is asking for help recovering sentimental jewelry and family heirlooms that remain missing after thieves stole her packed car hours before she was supposed to leave for Florida.<\/p>\n
Julia Macdonald spoke with NBC10 and said she woke up Saturday morning to discover her Honda Accord was gone from its parking spot at 13th and Bigler streets.<\/p>\n
“I woke up and looked outside and the vehicle was gone,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video obtained by NBC10 shows a group of thieves breaking into the car around 4 a.m. Saturday and driving away.<\/p>\n
Macdonald said she and her father had packed the car the night before with clothes, jewelry and other personal belongings ahead of their planned trip to Florida.<\/p>\n
She said the thieves appeared to know how to gain access to the vehicle.<\/p>\n
“They used a drill to unscrew the drivers side door and then they got into the car and reprogrammed it,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n
Macdonald said she tried to track down the stolen car by pinging her iPods to Mollbore Terrace. Surveillance video from the area shows thieves stopping there and dumping her belongings on both sides of the road before leaving.<\/p>\n
“I’m angry, I’m upset,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n

With help from neighbors, Macdonald was able to recover some of her belongings. But she said sentimental pieces of jewelry from her time as a flight attendant and family heirlooms remain missing.<\/p>\n
“My very dear mom mom passed away in 2021 and I have some of her jewelry and sentimental things that I would like back,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n
The car was eventually recovered, but Macdonald said it was not working. She and her father are now staying in an Airbnb while they wait for insurance issues to be sorted out.<\/p>\n
Macdonald said the theft has taken both a financial and emotional toll.<\/p>\n
“For someone to come and take it.. 5 minutes.. My whole life in that vehicle… its infuriating,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n
She is hoping whoever has the missing jewelry will return it.<\/p>\n
“Nike sneakers or a nutri bullett.. things I worked out in or drank out of fine, But the things that are owed to me, I do not deserve this,” Macdonald said.<\/p>\n
Macdonald said she is grateful for the support she has received from the neighborhood and for the people who returned some of her belongings, but many items are still missing.<\/p>\n
She filed a police report and is asking anyone with information to come forward.<\/p>\n
