The Wright Center for Community Health celebrated the opening of its Carbondale community health center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 12.<\/p>\n
The Wright Center for Community Health Friendship House \u2013 Carbondale began treating patients Aug. 13. The new facility, located inside Friendship House\u2019s new Whole-Person Care Center at 30 N. Main St., Suite 100,\u00a0is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
The community health center is under the leadership of Medical Director Bryan Boyle, a longtime board-certified physician assistant.<\/p>\n
The Carbondale location provides whole-person primary and preventive health services, including checkups, health screenings and treatment for common illnesses and injuries. Care is available for everyone, regardless of insurance status, ZIP code or ability to pay. Patients do not need to be a Friendship House client to receive care at the community health center.<\/p>\n
Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak, president and CEO of the Wright Center, and Carbondale Mayor Michele Bannon gave remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a Wright Center news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor generations, Friendship House has helped children, adults, and families build resilience through an extraordinary continuum of care that includes mental and behavioral health services, autism and developmental disability programs, social services, school-based behavioral health support, and integrated primary care,\u201d said Thomas-Hemak, according to the release. \u201cThe Wright Center complements that work by providing comprehensive whole-person primary and preventive health services while educating and training the next generation of physicians and interprofessional healthcare teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we are making it easier for individuals and families to access compassionate, coordinated care in one trusted setting \u2014 care that recognizes each person\u2019s inherent dignity, supports recovery and resilience, promotes lifelong wellness, and helps people achieve their fullest potential,\u201d Thomas-Hemak said.<\/p>\n
Bannon welcomed the new community health center. She expressed her appreciation to the Friendship House and the Wright Center for expanding healthcare access to local residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are bringing care closer to the people who live and work here,\u201d said Bannon, according to the release. \u201cHere in Carbondale, it\u2019s about relationships, partnerships, and waking up every morning and asking, \u2018How can we make things better?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The Carbondale location marks the Wright Center\u2019s second partnership with Friendship House. Since November 2024, the Wright Center\u2019s clinical team has provided primary care at Friendship House\u2019s Whole Person Care Center at 200 Wyoming Ave. in Scranton.<\/p>\n
