Storms that could cause flash flooding are possible Thursday in the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n
Showers and thunderstorms will likely develop midday and could bring 1-2 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.<\/p>\n
Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Bucks and Montgomery counties will be under a flash flood watch from noon until 4 a.m. Friday.<\/p>\n
Those counties, as well as Carbon and Monroe counties, are at a slight risk for excessive rainfall and severe weather, according to forecasters. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat of any storms, but forecasters said hail or a tornado cannot be ruled out.<\/p>\n
\u201cWidespread flash flooding still seems unlikely, but the localized threat remains elevated,\u201d meteorologists wrote Thursday in their daily forecast discussion. \u201cThe Flood Watch was expanded to include the Lehigh Valley and Berks County and remains in effect for northern NJ and the I-95 corridor.\u201d<\/p>\n
