{"id":273896,"date":"2026-08-28T12:24:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T12:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/273896\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T12:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T12:24:10","slug":"new-allentown-school-district-finance-chief-declines-job-will-stay-in-easton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/273896\/","title":{"rendered":"New Allentown School District finance chief declines job, will stay in Easton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jack Trent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcall.com\/2026\/05\/29\/allentown-school-district-new-cfo-preliminary-budget-tax-increase\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">named in May as Allentown School District\u2019s first permanent chief financial officer in three years<\/a>, is now set to stay on with the Easton Area School District.<\/p>\n<p>Trent was scheduled to assume his new duties this week, but he was missing from the district\u2019s first school board meeting of the 2026-27 school year.<\/p>\n<p>Herman James, ASD chief of talent management &amp; labor relations, told The Morning Call that Trent had rescinded his acceptance of the job offer and that the district would post an opening to continue its search for a permanent CFO. He added that the district is \u201cnot concerned at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne good thing is we have two great leaders who have a number of years of experience working in finance,\u201d James said, referencing interim CFOs Jeffrey Cuff and Richard Fazio.<\/p>\n<p>Cuff and Fazio were brought out of retirement for a temporary assignment that originally was set to last only three months. They already were scheduled to continue with the district for a transition period this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Cuff, who was in his usual place as the budget point person for Thursday\u2019s board meeting, declined to comment.
