BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – A plea deal has been reached for a Pennsylvania mother accused of causing the death of her 3-year-old daughter and dog in Milford one year ago.<\/p>\n

Kelly Brown, 41, was charged with manslaughter<\/a> after her daughter, Fiona, and her dog, Penelope,<\/a> were found dead in her car outside the Freshie\u2019s convenience store on August 10, 2025. Authorities said the deaths were heat-related.<\/a><\/p>\n

Records show Brown has family in the area and told authorities she was camping along the Penobscot River. Family members reported her missing and told police Brown had been acting strangely for several weeks, saying she was seeing spirits.<\/p>\n

Police said they had been attempting to locate the duo and check their well-being<\/a> at the request of those concerned family members before finding the young girl dead. Brown was located nearby and arrested.<\/p>\n

She was later indicted<\/a> by a grand jury on charges of depraved indifference murder and aggravated cruelty to animals.<\/p>\n

Brown pled guilty Friday morning in a Bangor courtroom to manslaughter and the animal cruelty charge. If a judge accepts the plea, the murder charge will be dismissed, according to the Maine Attorney General\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

As part of the deal, Brown will serve between 20 and 25 years in prison.<\/p>\n

She will be sentenced at a later date.<\/p>\n
