Scammers are impersonating MyChart and sending fraudulent emails and text messages that promise patients a reward in an effort to steal sensitive personal information, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said.<\/p>\n
There is no MyChart reward program, according to officials. The messages are designed to persuade recipients to click on malicious links and provide personal information.<\/p>\n
MyChart is used by health care organizations to allow patients to schedule appointments, communicate with doctors and manage their medical records online.<\/p>\n
St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network, which uses MyChart, said the scam is targeting multiple health care organizations.<\/p>\n
In a statement, St. Luke\u2019s warned that it will not unexpectedly contact patients and ask for passwords, financial information or other sensitive personal information.<\/p>\n
Lehigh Valley Health Network, which also uses MyChart, has warned its patients about the scam.<\/p>\n
Health officials are urging patients who receive an unexpected message promising a MyChart reward not to click on any links.<\/p>\n
