Bell was with the team since the spring but struggled to stand out in the passing game or as a blocker. He finished the preseason with three catches for seven yards, dropping a Drew Allar pass in the final seconds of the loss to the New York Jets.<\/p>\n
Crippen went from rookie tryout to signing a contract and spending all summer with the Steelers. He held his own as third-team center but lacked size and strength to make a serious push for the 53. If Ryan McCollum ends up elsewhere, Crippen could be kept on the practice squad.<\/p>\n
Guilbeau signed days before the finale against the Bills and picked up a handful of snaps. It was always going to be a steep climb for him to stick. It was a similar situation for Hill, who was signed the day after Guilbeau.<\/p>\n
Keeney-James was added midway through training camp. He struggled to find a preseason connection with Allar, catching just one pass on seven targets in the preseason. One missed connection came on fourth down against Buffalo. He worked in the kick return lines in training camp, but didn\u2019t field any in game action.<\/p>\n
Lynum was an undrafted rookie out of Pitt by way of Nebraska. Despite having size and a physical reputation, his summer was relatively quiet as he battled for right cornerback reps. He had a particularly bad outing in the finale, flagged for pass interference in the final minutes to help Buffalo storm back and win.<\/p>\n
Porter was in his second year with Pittsburgh after spending most of 2025 on the practice squad. He even briefly made his NFL debut late in the year. But he couldn\u2019t find much traction this time around and lost reps throughout the summer.<\/p>\n
Powell was added midway through training camp. He made a bit of noise in the finale with three catches for 23 yards, but the Steelers have a slew of receivers working above him. Winstead was added around the same time and caught two passes for 32 yards.<\/p>\n
Tecza was signed Aug. 24 and saw special teams works in the finale. He didn\u2019t log any offensive snaps. High school and college teammates with Eli Heidenreich, Tecza was making the transition from Navy\u2019s option offense into a pro-style system.
