{"id":275392,"date":"2026-08-30T19:48:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T19:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/275392\/"},"modified":"2026-08-30T19:48:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T19:48:09","slug":"pittsburgh-public-schools-shifts-35-buildings-to-remote-learning-due-to-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/275392\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh Public Schools shifts 35 buildings to remote learning due to heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PPS temporarily shifting 35 buildings to synchronous remote learning ahead of extreme heat<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1788119289_286_853c053a-375d-4f49-afda-568da22e36ea_1727472834.png\" width=\"48\" height=\"48\" alt=\"Caitlyn Scott\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>PITTSBURGH \u2014<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"0\">Pittsburgh Public Schools announced it will be temporarily shifting 35 of its buildings to remote learning this week due to extreme heat. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"1\">Video: Top stories on Pittsburgh&#8217;s Action News 4 <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">In a release on Sunday, the district said students within the impacted buildings will learn remotely from Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Thursday, Sept. 3 due to expected high temperatures.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">&#8220;Current weather forecasts are calling for temperatures in the 90s next week, prompting PPS to implement its Extreme Heat Protocol at schools identified as most impacted by the forecasted conditions,&#8221; the release said.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">The release continued, saying, &#8220;Under the District\u2019s protocol, when the National Weather Service forecasts outside temperatures to reach or exceed 85\u00b0F and\/or a heat index of 90\u00b0F or higher, PPS monitors temperatures inside school facilities.
