{"id":276498,"date":"2026-09-01T13:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T13:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/276498\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T13:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T13:12:10","slug":"chobani-plans-1-2b-investment-in-pennsylvania-creating-900-jobs-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/276498\/","title":{"rendered":"Chobani plans $1.2B investment in Pennsylvania, creating 900 jobs \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pennsylvania is getting a major investment from popular Greek yogurt brand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chobani.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chobani<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/tag\/josh-shapiro\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Governor Josh Shapiro<\/a> announced Tuesday that the company is investing $1.2 billion to establish its first dairy manufacturing operation in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Chobani will take over Keurig Dr Pepper\u2019s manufacturing facility in the Lehigh Valley, where it plans to make food products beyond yogurt.<\/p>\n<p>The project is expected to create 900 full-time jobs over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>Once operating at full scale, Chobani is expected to source more than 3 billion pounds of Pennsylvania milk every year. That\u2019s equal to about 30% of all the milk currently produced in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Shapiro says the investment will strengthen the state\u2019s dairy industry and create new opportunities for Pennsylvania\u2019s more than 4,000 dairy farmers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve spent a lot of time on our farms and in our rural communities, hearing directly from Pennsylvanians about the kind of investments they want to see in our Commonwealth. This $1.2 billion investment from Chobani is the largest private sector investment in the history of Pennsylvania\u2019s agriculture industry and will strengthen our dairy industry, support our farmers, and reinforce our position as a national leader in agriculture and food manufacturing,\u201d Shapiro said in a news release. <\/p>\n<p>Production under Chobani is expected to begin in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPennsylvania is home to one of the highest number of family-owned farms in the country.
