PITTSBURGH \u2014 A Pittsburgh councilperson said mailers sent throughout the South Side are spreading misinformation.<\/p>\n
The mailers sent out last week claim to be from \u201cthe South Side NID Expansion Committee\u201d and say residents will have to pay into a fund for the proposed South Side Neighborhood Improvement Plan.<\/p>\n
However, Councilman Bob Charland stated that the proposal would not require homeowners to pay anything.<\/p>\n
The proposal under consideration would create a neighborhood improvement district to fund upgrades along East Carson Street.<\/p>\n
The identities of the individuals behind the mailers, as well as the total number of residents who received them, have not been established.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NID Expansion Committee is not a real organization; if you look up the address, it\u2019s the UPS on East Carson Street,\u201d Charland said. \u201cWe\u2019re trying our best to hound them down, but we don\u2019t know who all received them,\u201d Charland said.<\/p>\n
City Council is scheduled to host its second public hearing on the proposal on Thursday.<\/p>\n
