Crews are cleaning up after severe storms toppled trees, causing widespread power outages across the Philadelphia region.<\/p>\n

Power companies across the region say thousands of customers are without power as crews work to get it back on.<\/p>\n

The storms also prompting a tornado warning in parts of South Jersey.<\/p>\n

Gloucester County in New Jersey was among areas hit quite hard.<\/p>\n

Action News has learned that schools in Mantua Township will be closed Wednesday due to the storm damage.<\/p>\n

The district says it will assess whether it can reopen Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Mantua Fire Department said multiple roads are also closed, including Bridgeton Pike, between Mantua Blvd. and Mt Royal Rd.; Berkley Rd., between Bridgeton Pike and Harrison Ave.; as well as multiple side streets in residential neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews responded to multiple reports of downed trees, trees falling onto homes and other structures, downed power lines, power outages and at least some reported collapsed structures.<\/p>\n

Two residents were briefly trapped after a tree crashed into their home in Mantua Township. It was not immediately clear whether either person was injured.<\/p>\n

Officials in Gloucester County are urging residents to stay home if possible as crews continue cleanup and assess storm damage.<\/p>\n

No serious injuries had been reported as of Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

There are also reports of damage in Wilmington, Delaware.<\/p>\n

The National Weather Services said Wednesday they they will be investigating the storm in Delaware City, New Castle County. There, winds reached upward of 68 mph.<\/p>\n

More than 10,000 PECO customers are still without power Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

At one point, 20% of residents in Honey Brook, Chester County, were without power.<\/p>\n

Delmarva is reporting more than 5,000 outages; A.C. Electric reports roughly 4,000 outages and PSE&G with under 400.<\/p>\n

New video also shows a fallen tree that blocked Susquehanna Road and Mill Road in Abington Township, Montgomery County.<\/p>\n
