SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE\/WYOU) \u2014 People living near a restaurant\/night club in Scranton say they have had enough, and now the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office agrees.<\/p>\n

Many people in West Scranton would eat lunch and dinner at Isla Paraiso, but now, they’re finding locked doors instead.<\/p>\n

Tanya Howells has lived in the neighborhood for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

“It was a quiet neighborhood. When we bought the house 13 years ago, it was a Curry Donut, and it was fantastic, they served up really awesome Greek food,” Howells said.<\/p>\n

She said the business near her home changed a lot, until the current owners took over and introduced, what she described as, a night club environment in July. Howells said that is when the constant weekend disturbances began.<\/p>\n

She described, “Loud music, loud patrons, fights in the neighborhood, people blocking our driveway, parking illegally.”<\/p>\n

She said things got a little more dangerous soon after.<\/p>\n

“About three weeks before the incident with the shooting this past weekend, there was a fight directly outside of my house in which one of the bar patrons shot a bb gun at another person, and ended up shattering the window in my living room,” Howells explained.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, notices on the windows of the business could be seen, reading the business is temporarily shut down and closed.<\/p>\n

District Attorney Brian Gallagher said in a release that his office supports and welcomes new businesses but, “When an establishment’s activities result in late-night disturbances, extended hours, and bullets flying in the roadway, we will pursue every appropriate legal remedy.”<\/p>\n

Howells said neighbors feel a sense of calm, and she hopes it will last.<\/p>\n

“I don’t like to see any business ever get shut down, but being forced to live in an environment where you don’t feel safe, secure, or peaceful in your own home is a massive problem,” she added.<\/p>\n

The restaurant is temporarily closed, and a ruling is expected on Thursday.<\/p>\n
