NEW STANTON, Pa. (WHTM) — A traveler with measles stopped at a Pennsylvania Turnpike service plaza and may have exposed others, the Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Wednesday.<\/p>\n
An out-of-state traveler stopped at the New Stanton Service Plaza on the westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County on Aug. 17.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Pennsylvania passes 500 measles cases on the year\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n If you stopped at the service plaza, including the Burger King, Starbucks, Sunoco, 7-11, restrooms and dining area, and may have been exposed, officials say to check your vaccination status and monitor for symptoms.<\/p>\n Unvaccinated individuals are most at risk, the Department of Health said.<\/p>\n The measles virus can remain in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours, even after the infected person leaves the area.<\/p>\n Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes followed by a rash.<\/p>\n Download the abc27 News+ app on your Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV devices<\/a>, and newer Samsung Smart TVs.<\/a><\/p>\n People who believe they were exposed to measles and are experiencing symptoms should contact their health care provider or call the Department’s toll-free hotline at 877-PA-HEALTH (877-724-3258).<\/p>\n
