Thousands are without power in western New York as severe storms hit the area Wednesday, with over 17,000 households affected, according to National Grid and NYSEG.<\/p>\n

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. \u2014 Thousands are without power in Western New York as severe storms moved through the area Wednesday.<\/p>\n

National Grid is reporting that over 17,000 households are without power across Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Orleans, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Wyoming, and Allegany County.<\/p>\n

NYSEG is also reporting a high number of outages, with just over 1,000 households in Erie and Wyoming County without power.<\/p>\n

Erie – 3,103Niagara – 1,677Orleans – 2,222Genesee – 2,652Wyoming – 1,388Cattaraugus – 3,710Chautauqua – 276Allegany – 907 <\/p>\n

National Grid says that outages in Genesee and Allegany County are expected to be resolved by 1:45 a.m. Thursday. Power in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County is expected to be back by 2 a.m. Thursday. Power for National Grid customers in Erie County is expected to be back in service by 9:00 p.m. Thursday. There is no estimated restoration time for Niagara or Orleans County as of 10:30 p.m. on September 2.<\/p>\n
