ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Great Allentown Fair is once again bringing rides, food, livestock and entertainment to the Lehigh Valley, with hundreds of people coming out for opening day.<\/p>\n
Among them was Josephine Hall, making her first-ever trip to the fair. Her father, Matt Hall, said she spent the day taking in the sights and sounds around her.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe looked at some of the animals. She’s loving it,\u201d Hall said.<\/p>\n
Fairgoers spent the day playing carnival games, grabbing food from one of the fair\u2019s roughly 80 concession stands and checking out the annual livestock displays.<\/p>\n
Goats, heifers and other animals were there throughout the fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also a familiar performer back this year. Scott the Magician is returning to the Great Allentown Fair for the first time since 2019.<\/p>\n
Scott said his show features patriotic moments, surprises and audience participation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis show has a lot of patriotic moments in it, and we even float a boy or girl in the air on a magic carpet that’s red, white and blue,\u201d he said. \u201cBut there are a lot of surprises. Of course, a flag or two might appear, and it’s nothing but fun here at the Great Allentown Fair.\u201d<\/p>\n
For some visitors, the fair is also a chance to take home a lasting memory.<\/p>\n
Mytarious Gaither is making caricatures at the fair for the first time. He said he has enjoyed meeting members of the community and learning more about the people he draws.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy favorite part, I would say, would be communicating with people and finding a little bit about them and their personalities,\u201d Gaither said. \u201cAnd we find out a little bit about a person’s personality, a little bit more of the character comes out into the caricature.\u201d<\/p>\n
