{"id":278102,"date":"2026-09-03T11:24:37","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T11:24:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/278102\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T11:24:37","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T11:24:37","slug":"nearly-2k-people-without-power-amid-high-temperatures-in-allegheny-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/278102\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 2K people without power amid high temperatures in Allegheny County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. \u2014 UPDATE 11:55 p.m. &#8211; Duquesne Light Company still shows over 2,000 customers are without power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Within Pittsburgh mailing addresses, 2,069 customers are still impacted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">UPDATE 7:15 p.m.- Nearly 5,000 Duquesne Light Company customers remain without power amid high temperatures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Duquesne Light Company shared the following statement regarding the outages:<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cDuquesne Light Company crews are currently responding to several outages in the North Hills area.\u00a0The loss of power is likely due to extreme heat placing stress on electrical equipment. These situations can occur when temperatures exceed 90 degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cThere is no estimated restoration time at this time as crews continue to assess equipment and determine what repairs may be necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">At this time, 4,260 power outages have been reported in Allegheny County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Of those outages, 4,603 are in a Pittsburgh mailing address.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Over 10,000 people are without power amid high temperatures in Allegheny County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to Duquesne Light Company, 10,610 customers are without power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A majority of power outages are in the 15202 ZIP code, with nearly 6,000 reported in those communities. In the 15237 ZIP code, nearly 2,500 power outages have been reported, followed by over 1,300 power outages reported in the 15229 ZIP code area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Channel 11 has reached out to Duquesne Light Company to learn what is causing the power outages in those areas.
