The University of Scranton has appointed 20 new,\u00a0full-time faculty members for the 2026-27 academic year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Michele Boland, previously a lecturer and faculty specialist in the Nursing Program at\u00a0the University, was named an instructor in the Department of Nursing. A certified academic clinical nurse educator, she served as a member of\u00a0nursing\u00a0faculty at\u00a0Career\u00a0Technology Center of Lackawanna County. She previously worked as an ICU nurse and clinical resource manager at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and as a nursing supervisor at Presbyterian Medical Center. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing at the University of Delaware,\u00a0a master\u2019s degree in nursing education at the University of\u00a0Phoenix and\u00a0is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of the Cumberlands.<\/p>\n

\"AEmma Boyle\u00a0was named a faculty specialist in the Accounting Department. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy. She serves as a board member of NeighborWorks of NEPA and previously worked as a tax associate for Baker Tilly, LLP in Allentown. She earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting with a minor in business leadership, as well as a Master of Accountancy, from the University\u2019s Kania School of Management. There, she received the Outstanding Student Award for Accountancy.<\/p>\n

\"ACollin Brice, Ph.D.,\u00a0was named an assistant professor in the Department of\u00a0Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders.\u00a0Dr. Brice\u00a0is a licensed speech-language pathologist in Ohio and has a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. His teaching interests include\u00a0speech and hearing science\u00a0and voice disorders. He earned a Bachelor of Science in speech and hearing science and\u00a0Master\u00a0of Science in\u00a0speech-language pathology from Lamar\u00a0University. He recently completed his\u00a0Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

\"AGreg Campbell, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Department of Physics and Engineering. He most recently served as a visiting assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Lafayette College. Dr. Campbell earned bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in mechanical engineering from Villanova University and Stanford University, respectively, before completing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania.\u00a0His research focuses on human-safe soft\u00a0robotics, and he served as a research mentor for more than a dozen students at Penn.<\/p>\n

\"AKaitlyn Clarke, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance. Dr. Clarke has a Pennsylvania state license in speech-language pathology; is a board-certified specialist in child language through the American Board of Child Language and Language Disorders; and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.\u00a0She\u00a0previously worked at St. Joseph\u2019s Center, private schools and Geisinger\u2019s Autism and Developmental Medicine Institute as part of her clinical experience. Most recently, she served as an assistant professor at Marywood University. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in health science and\u00a0master\u2019s\u00a0in speech-language pathology from Misericordia University, before completing her Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders from Pennsylvania State University.<\/p>\n

\"AMadison Conway\u00a0was named a faculty specialist in the Department of Communication and Media. She has more than 17\u00a0years of professional experience in\u00a0strategic communications,\u00a0marketing\u00a0and global branding.\u00a0As the DDC Group\u2019s Chief Marketing Officer, she led a multilingual global rebrand across multiple continents and languages. Prof. Conway\u2019s experience also includes content marketing for eBay with top-tier media partners and public relations for a nonprofit in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has published research on social media in elections, and Ragan Communications named her a 2025 Top Woman in marketing. Conway earned a Bachelor of Science in communications, marketing and media studies; Master of Arts in integrated global communication; and\u00a0global\u00a0learning certificate from Kennesaw State University. She also studied international business communication at Shanghai International Studies University.<\/p>\n

\"ACarla Enriquez, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. Dr. Enriquez is a\u00a0board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties\u00a0with more than two decades of clinical experience. She previously\u00a0held\u00a0faculty appointments at Kean University and currently\u00a0maintains\u00a0an adjunct faculty appointment at Johns Hopkins University.\u00a0Her research focuses on pain mechanisms, health outcomes, precision\u00a0orthopedic rehabilitation and health services research. She was recently selected as a PACES Scholar through the NIH-funded Precise Center for Precision Rehabilitation Across the Lifespan.\u00a0Dr. Enriquez\u00a0earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in physical therapy from Silliman University in the Philippines, a master\u2019s in health sciences\u00a0and Doctor of Physical Therapy\u00a0from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in health education from Trident University International.<\/p>\n

\"AErica\u00a0Getts\u00a0was named an assistant professor at the Weinberg Memorial Library. She most recently served as a librarian and instructor at Penn Foster Group, where she managed library websites and curated collections. Prof.\u00a0Getts\u00a0also worked at the McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned her master\u2019s in library and information science, and the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at Johns Hopkins University. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in library science with instructional technology from Kutztown University and is a member of the Pennsylvania Library Association, American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries.<\/p>\n

Sarah Hunt (Livick-Moses), Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies. Dr. Hunt most recently served as an assistant professor of theology at Gannon University, and her research focuses on\u00a0systematic theology,\u00a0spirituality, mystical theology,\u00a0ecology\u00a0and trauma studies. She earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in literature and history from Hellenic College and her master\u2019s and Ph.D. in systematic theology from Boston College. She has\u00a0written\u00a0multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and given presentations across Germany, Austria, Norway, Greece, Switzerland and the U.K.<\/p>\n

\"AJonathan Kadjeski\u00a0was named a faculty specialist in the English and Theatre Department. He has taught as an adjunct professor of English at Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes\u00a0University, and he also served as an instructor and student success counselor at King\u2019s College. His\u00a0teaching\u00a0examines\u00a0William Shakespeare,\u00a0food writing and\u00a0Holocaust rhetoric. Prof.\u00a0Kadjeski\u00a0completed a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English at Wilkes and Villanova University, respectively. He is also a member of the National Organization for Student Success, serving as president of the Pennsylvania chapter since 2025.<\/p>\n

\"AJuliana Kazemi, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Philosophy Department. Dr. Kazemi earned her bachelor\u2019s degrees in theology and religious studies and philosophy from Scranton, before completing a\u00a0Master of Theological Studies and a\u00a0master\u2019s in early Christian studies\u00a0at The University of Notre Dame and\u00a0a\u00a0Ph.D. in philosophy at Baylor University. She most recently served as an instructor of record in logic at Baylor. Her research focuses on the intersection of philosophy of religion, ethics and ancient philosophy. A lover of languages, she completed graduate studies\u00a0in\u00a0Latin and Ancient Greek\u00a0and also\u00a0studies Persian.<\/p>\n

\"ASamantha Kelly, Ph.D., was named a faculty specialist in the Department of Education. She has worked as a special education director and elementary emotional support teacher at New Story Schools based in Throop. Dr. Kelly earned her bachelor\u2019s degree in early childhood education and elementary education from East Stroudsburg University,\u00a0master\u2019s\u00a0in special education from the University and completed her Ph.D. in special education at Lehigh University. She has contributed to six journal articles and given presentations at more than a dozen conferences across the U.S. and in Vietnam.<\/p>\n

\"ACharles Kulick, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics. Dr. Kulick earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in mathematics from The University of Scranton, where he received the Rose I. Kelly Award, before completing his master\u2019s and Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has research\u00a0expertise\u00a0in statistical machine learning, data science, dynamical systems, inverse\u00a0problems\u00a0and scientific computing. He previously worked as a teaching assistant and teaching associate at UCSB, serving as\u00a0an\u00a0instructor of record for linear algebra.<\/p>\n

\"AMargaret Maurer, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the English and Theatre Department. Dr. Maurer\u2019s research examines alchemy in early modern England, as well as how gender, race and class have shaped labor and\u00a0knowledge\u00a0production\u00a0in the history of science and literature.\u00a0They\u00a0have\u00a0worked as a curriculum design specialist for the Sexual Violence Prevention Project at Dartmouth College. Dr. Maurer earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in English literature and theater from Brown University, a Master of Philosophy\u00a0in medieval and early modern literature\u00a0from Cambridge University and Ph.D. in English and comparative literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n

\"AKatherine McLeod, Ph.D., was named a visiting assistant professor in the Department of History. Dr. McLeod previously worked as an instructor of record at New York University and\u00a0as a research specialist at the Academy of Natural Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.\u00a0Her research has been supported by the Smithsonian Institution\u00a0and the Consortium for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in fine art from Columbia University,\u00a0master\u2019s\u00a0in sustainability science and education from The City University of New York and\u00a0Ph.D. in history from New York University. Dr. McLeod\u2019s\u00a0research examines how people come to understand the natural world.\u00a0Her work traces how zoos, museums and the internet circulate and codify ideas about ecology, evolution,\u00a0animals\u00a0and people.<\/p>\n

Corey Posa, previously a faculty specialist in the Nursing Program at The University, was named an instructor in the Department of Nursing. She is a nurse navigator who specializes in perinatal addiction medicine and previously worked at UPMC Magee-Women\u2019s Hospital Pregnancy and Women\u2019s Recovery Center. She is a licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania and certified in basic life support (BLS). She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing and\u00a0Master\u00a0of Science in nursing education from Duquesne University.<\/p>\n

\"ADavid Sannino, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Biology Department. Dr. Sannino earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in biological sciences from Rutgers University and\u00a0Ph.D. in microbiology from Cornell University. His research is focused on\u00a0microbiology, symbiosis,\u00a0host-microbe interactions, bacterial\/genetics\u00a0genomics, molecular biology and\u00a0other topics. He previously served as a\u00a0postdoctoral\u00a0research associate at The University of Glasgow and a laboratory scientist at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital\u00a0in Glasgow, where he worked in a testing program during the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0Before that, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at Weill Cornell Medical College.\u00a0His work has appeared in more than a dozen publications.<\/p>\n

\"AJonathan Thai, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Chemistry Department. A member of the American Chemical Society, Dr. Thai is a synthetic chemist with a background in organic, inorganic and materials chemistry, as well as teaching interests in food chemistry and alchemy\u2019s transition into modern chemistry. He most recently served as a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Bowdoin College and Amherst College. Dr. Thai earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in chemistry from Western New England University and Ph.D. in chemistry from Colorado State University.<\/p>\n

\"AYuzo\u00a0Yanagitsuru, Ph.D., was named an assistant professor in the Biology Department. Dr. Yanagitsuru\u2019s primary teaching interests are animal and human physiology, ecology and conservation biology. He previously worked as an assistant professor at Wilkes University and a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Washington and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Dr.\u00a0Yanagitsuru\u00a0earned bachelor\u2019s degrees in ecology behavior and evolution and earth science from the University of California, San Diego; a master\u2019s in zoology from the University of Florida; and a Ph.D. in animal biology from the University of California, Davis.<\/p>\n

\"AYiling Zhou, Ph.D., was named a visiting assistant professor in the Philosophy Department. Dr. Zhou\u00a0received a bachelor\u2019s degree in philosophy from Wuhan University and completed her master\u2019s and Ph.D. in philosophy at St. Louis\u00a0University. She\u00a0has given presentations at colloquiums and conferences throughout the U.S. and previously served as a research assistant and instructor\u00a0of record\u00a0at SLU. Dr. Zhou\u2019s primary research interests are ethics, moral psychology, agency and responsibility.
